Our windows are installed outside of the wooden wall frame. We used 9 cm angle brackets with a reinforcing rib to levitate the window frame so that it will meet up with the back of our exterior wood cladding. (9 cm = 6 cm of Gutex + 3 cm of cavity wall).
We finished the inside by adding ESB boards against the window frames. It was nice that we could use some leftover pieces from the wall and ceiling for this.
