For our kitchen we decided to build our own stainless steel top, using and old piece we found secondhand. To bend it we didn’t use any heavy machinerie. Instead we used an angle grinder to make a small groove onto some of the edges. Afterwards we used clamps and wooden beams to slowly bend these edges into a 90° angle. This ended up working really well.
We ended up bending the back and right edge to the top, to stop water from going further, while the left and front edge was bend down. Afterwards we cut a hole into the stainless steel for the installation of a new sink that we bought. We see this area as a transition space between the shower and the cooking area that is allowed to get wet.
Underneath our kitchen sink we have some room to store towels, big pots and other items. On the right of the sink we installed a wooden counter top that we found at Atelier Circuler. We added a deeper space behind the wooden counter where we can store bottles, olive oil, kitchen tools…
We made 6 drawers that slide underneath the wooden counter. For this we could use leftover planks from our floor with sheets of ESB as the bottom of the drawer.
