We painted the walls and floor with loam paint. Loam paint is made from clay minerals and natural pigments, which are hygroscopic, they can absorb and release moisture from the air. When humidity rises, clay absorbs water vapor. When the air dries out, it releases it again. This naturally regulates indoor humidity, keeping it within a comfortable range (around 40–60%). Loam paint is fully vapor-permeable (unlike acrylic or latex paints). That means it doesn’t block the wall’s natural ability to “breathe.” We read that loam paint sometimes has a difficult time adhering to fibre boards, therefore we first painted the ESB panels with Tierrafino Contact Primer. The composition of this is largely natural: cellulose, methylcellulose, calcium carbonate, marbling sand/powder, porcelain clay, water, and only ~0.1% synthetic preservative.
