Convection is a way heat (and sometimes matter) moves through fluids, that means liquids and gases, by the motion of the fluid itself.
The basic idea
- Warm fluid becomes less dense → it rises
- Cool fluid is denser → it sinks
- This creates a circulating flow called a convection current
Heat is carried along with that moving fluid.
