Before installing all the boards we first had to attach the outer wooden beams to the steel deck. We didn’t want to drill inside the steel deck so we decided to use long threaded rods to connect the wood with the steel. We first drilled a hole inside the wooden beam. Next we chopped some wood on top so the rod would fit in nicely. Then we hammered the rod in place halfway after which we could bend the other half down. We then made a steel plate with two holes that could slide over the two parrallel rod ends. With two bolts we screwed them tight. We did this on all four sides of the structure.

We covered the insulation with 12mm Elka ESB boards. These boards are very similar to OSB boards but they contain less formaldehyde and no isocyanates making them a good biobased alternative. We screwed the boards onto the wooden beams keeping a distance of 15 cm between each screw.
