“The experience of making an exhibition is quite important for any artist. It gives a new perspective of the work and it makes us think about how we can better present it to the public. No matter the medium in which we create, the artwork is not quite complete until it is received by the viewer. Our exhibition is quite straight forward, still it’s always a bit tricky to find the right way to show it to someone else. At the same time, the moment of this event came at a time where we’ve searched for the right place that can host our work but we couldn’t find anything. Maison Florida is a place where all the right elements clicked, a welcoming place, the right timing and a body of work ready to adapt to the space.
There are always differences between the nature of what there is prepared and the specific of the space. This experience was useful because it made us be more conscience of the different process between these phases and realise what is important for us as artists. Overall, the exhibition was a rewarding experience and the right conclusion to the academic year. „Aardbei & Pestkop” was a painting exhibition, mainly focused on the aesthetic part of the work. The result of sharing the studio space, time and experiences together gave artworks that, in a way, are blended: in the imaginary, reminding of a sort of underwater world with coral, wave, light spot and creatures.
The technique that is based in an overlaying process that create a chaotic surface where the eyes are stimulated in more point of view. We didn’t think about a theme or a narrative behind the whole exhibition, we both felt there was no meaning on putting another way to tell the story that can be told by the painting itself, as matter. Without the written story the minds of the audience is pushed to create it, connecting the images that live on the painted surface.”
