Mission
In a world marked by an array of social and ecological challenges, the Nomad City Project emerged as an inspiring response to these issues. Our goal is to locate and activate unused plots of land near schools and neighborhoods where we invite artists, designers, architects, and permaculturists to research sustainable and communal living.
Research
Within the Nomad City project we explore and design structures for communal living, reimagine education as a hands-on experience, highlight our dependency from the natural environment and build bridges between schools, its departments and the neighborhoods surrounding them.
Residency Program 2024
We are open to welcome designers, artists, educators & permaculturists for a one or two week residency at our Nomad City base camp. During this time you will live in a home on wheels inside our settlement. You can choose to initiate your own project or help out with our current projects on sustainable and communal living.
Nomad Lands
Our base camp is currently located at UCLL University in Hasselt but we also organize various projects and interventions in other parts of the city. We are always on the lookout for forgotten lands that hold the potential for sustainable and communal projects. Do you need help in activating a space? Let us know!
